Samurai Sword of Toyotomi Hideyoshi
Toyotomi Hideyoshi (original surname Hashiba) was a Japanese general who united Japan. He succeeded his former liege - Oda Nobunaga. Later - he invaded Korea. He is known for a number of cultural legacies - including the restriction that only members of the samurai class could bear arms. The period of his rule is called the Momoyama period - after Toyotomi's castle. It lasted from 1582 to his death in 1598 - or until Tokugawa Ieyasu seized power after the battle of Sekigahara in 1600. This awesome collectible sword features the crest of this great ruler which also includes a crystal display stand and title card with story. The sword meaures 40 inches overall and 38.5 inches without the scabbard. The blade is made out of 440 stainless steel measuring 27.5 inches long. The handle is cordwrapped which features an oxidized copper tusba with an embossed image of the ruler. -- $74.95
