A substantial guard and reinforcing collar will adequately protect the forward hand from enemy weaponry - and the sturdy wax wood shaft is tough enough to withstand virtually anything. To ensure a better grip - and to keep the hand from slipping when it?s drenched in the blood of one?s enemies - they have wrapped the shaft in cord and capped it with a heavy steel ferrule - which aids in balance and is a formidable piece of weaponry in its own right.
